Training
At Yr Hafod we are lucky to have a team of highly qualified staff that specialise in mountain activities. The strength of our team allows us to focus most of our work on our qualification training programmes. As a Scout centre, our main aim is to increase the number of permitted Scout leaders who can take Scouts into the hills. However, we also offer the nationally recognised Mountain Leader and Rock Climbing Instructor (formerly the SPA) qualifications to both Scout members aiming a little higher and the general public.
To complement our adventurous activities programme we offer the industry standard Rescue Emergency Care (REC) Emergency First Aid for the Outdoors (formerly REC Level 2) qualification every December.
As a centre with a focus on Scouting volunteers, we try to keep our course prices to the minimum. To this end, all of our courses include food and indoor accommodation at our hostel in the Ogwen Valley.
Our Scout permit training and assessment weekends for climbing and hillwalking run throughout the year with the national qualifications running less frequently. For more details on our courses please check out the links below.
