Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award & King’s Scout Award

Following your arrival on Friday, the 15th of August, a full week’s Expedition will last through to Saturday morning, the 23th of August, and will provide Practice Expedition and Qualifying Expedition opportunities for Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members.

The cost of this year’s event is £225 which includes all food and accommodation together with costs incurred on the expedition itself (please note this does not include travel to and from Yr Hafod to attend the week).

Yr Hafod runs an ‘Open’ expedition which is intended for individuals or small numbers who are unable to form teams in their local area. It is not intended to cater to explorer scouts that already know each other and can therefore form their own teams and make their own arrangements. For this reason, there is a limit of 6 bookings from any single Scout County or Area each year. This restriction does not apply to participants who have previously attended our Practice Expedition and are returning for the Qualifying Expedition & Assessment.

**A minimum of 4 candidates must enroll and be accepted for either a practice or qualifier expedition to take place. Failure to reach 4 candidates will result in the expedition being cancelled.**

We will consider your application and check the number of bookings already received from your Scout Area/County as detailed above.

If we are able to accept your booking you will be offered to book a place with a deposit of £75 payable at the time of booking. An invoice for the remaining £150 will be issued in due course and will need paying at least 4 weeks prior to the event taking place.
