DofE & QSA Expeditions

This years expeditions will be held from 21st-29th August 2020 and will provide practise and qualifying opportunities for Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members.

The cost of this years event is £150 which includes all food and accommodation including any costs incurred on the expedition itself (please note this does not include travel to and from Yr Hafod to attend the week).

Yr Hafod runs an ‘open’ expedition which is intended for individuals or small numbers who are unable to form teams in their local area. It is not intended to cater for several people that already know each other and can therefore form their own teams and make their own arrangements. For this reason there is a limit of 6 bookings from any one Scout County or Area each year. This restriction does not apply to participants who have previously attended our open expedition for training and are returning for assessment.

How to book

Please complete our online registration of interest form: Open Gold 2020 Enquiry

We will consider your application and check the number of bookings already received from your Scout Area/County as detailed above.

If we are able to accept your booking you will receive an invoice by email which will request a £50 deposit. A further invoice for £100 will follow in June 2020.

Alternatively, if we are unable to accept your booking, we will let you know.

Covid 19

Yr Hafod is now closed until the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis is over. As the Covid 19 restrictions are lifted we are hopeful that we can return to business in 2021. To help you with your planning for 2021 we are taking provisional bookings for the hostel and our activity courses and there’s even better news, we won’t be asking for any deposit or payment until the Government and the Scout Association have lifted the restrictions on residential activities taking place. Please phone for your first and second provisional dates. You can continue to browse the website as normal. Click on videos or buy a Buff in the menu to prepare yourself for when we are allowed out again. Stay safe everyone and we look forward to seeing you at Hafod in 2021.
